Determinants of Innovation in Tourism Business in Pucón - Chile
This paper discusses based on an empirical work, the main determinants that infl uence the innovation of product, process and marketing in tourism businesses in Pucón, Chile. The research considers companies from different fi elds and the use of structured questionnaires. The information is processed through a factorial analysis. The factors are included in an econometric multiple regression analysis, using mostly qualitative explanatory variables according to business networks, information and communication technologies (ICT) and the entrepreneur. The results highlight the negative infl uence of web site on product innovation while risk taking entrepreneurs, internet connection and the use of ICT have positive impact on process innovation. Finally, the use of ICT and the taking part in training programs foster the innovation in marketing. All this suggests the introduction of public policies to enhance telecommunication infrastructure and training.
